Thank goodness indeed. I hope we are a constant, very large thorn in their sides.

The cesspit is still full of bitter and twisted trolls I see

Until there is absolute proof that Madeleine is no longer with us, I stand with her family.

It would be a miracle if Verdi found the one brain cell that is rattling around in her head.

The parents are holding out hope, they have no idea what it must be like to lose a child in this way, no one can unless it has happened to you. They want their child found, stupid people on a forum full of nasty twisted people will never understand the hell on earth the McCann's are going through.

Look at yourselves in the mirror and ask yourselves what are you doing? Ridiculous theory of Madeleine dead at the start of the week, everyone lying to prove your theory. It is ludicrous, you are all insane. Leave the McCann's alone and find some other hobby to fill your time with, you bitter evil scumbags. :s_crazy :s_crazy :s_crazy :s_crazy

There are very few posters left in the cesspit now but those who are there are complete nutjobs with no life. Verdi is in a very bad fantasy place indeed.

Encouraging, obviously.

Also interesting.

Tending to suggest the McCanns have not, after all, handed over the fruits of Kate's hard labour from the sale of her book to Amaral.

Delighted, if that's the case.

The McCanns have always said they’d continue the investigations themselves if OP.Grange ended without a result.

I fee so sorry for the whole family, especially at this time every year :s_cry :s_cry :s_cry

Today's Times
The prime suspect for the abduction of Madeleine McCann is due to be charged with the rape of an Irish tour representative in 2004.

Christian Brückner is suspected of attacking Hazel Behan, then 20, in her apartment in Praia da Rocha on the Algarve, a 30-minute drive from where Madeleine was abducted.

German federal police, who are leading the inquiry into Brückner, hope to charge him with raping Behan “in the next three months”.

Behan, 37, who has waived her right to anonymity, contacted British police after reading in the news about a similar s-e-x attack by Brückner.

His history emerged during an appeal for information by German detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine. German prosecutors claimed last year to have evidence that Brückner abducted and murdered three-year-old Madeleine, and are building a case towards charging him. She would have been 18 this month.

Brückner is serving a seven-year term in a prison in Hanover for raping a 72-year-old American in Praia da Luz in 2005.

Hans Christian Wolters, the German prosecutor leading the inquiry, said: “The case against the suspect Christian B for the rape of Hazel Behan is in a good way, and it may be that we can charge him in the next three months. I am very hopeful for a charge on this case.

“We are building a picture of Christian B and the methods he uses to commit his crimes. There are parallels with the case of the American tourist who was raped, the attack on Hazel Behan, and the abduction and murder of Madeleine McCann. In each case the person has come into the person’s apartment or property by breaking and entering, often not through the door.”

Asked whether that meant police believed Madeleine’s abductor entered the McCanns’ hotel apartment using the window, rather than the unlocked patio doors, Wolters said: “I can’t comment.” He added that he hoped to resolve the Madeleine case “by this year”.

Wolters said that if Brückner were convicted of raping Behan it could help take the Madeleine case over the threshold to bring him to trial.

The German legal system means that following any charge, Wolters will have to convince a judge that a full trial should be held, which would take place before five judges, probably in the district court in Braunschweig, a city in Lower Saxony known as Brunswick in English, where Brückner spent much of his life while in Germany.

He fled to Portugal as an 18-year-old to escape a two-year youth custody sentence for child s-e-x offences, later returning.

“Maybe the judge will think that somebody who has raped more than one woman in the same place where Madeleine was taken would also be more likely to take and kill a young girl,” Wolters added. “It says something about his character.”

Behan was two weeks from her 21st birthday when she was subjected to a prolonged sexual assault in her apartment. She went to bed at 1am and was woken by someone calling her name. She turned onto her back to see a masked man dressed in tights and a full leotard standing over her bed holding a 12in machete.

The man, who she told police spoke English with a German accent, was about 6ft 1in tall, and she could see that behind the mask he had blond eyebrows and blue eyes, a description that matches Brückner.

The attacker, who had taken off his shoes at the door, set up a video camera, dragged her to the living room, tied her to the breakfast bar and produced a bag of whips and chains. He gagged her and used scissors to remove her clothes.

Behan has said in the past that her attacker “had a plan” and was “very deliberate”, cleaning his hands and repeatedly changing condoms during an attack lasting four to five hours. “I thought that was it, my life was over,” Behan said. But then she watched him back out of the door, put his shoes on and run off down the street.

Brückner’s most serious conviction was for the rape of an elderly American whose flat was on the 1km route between his house and a beach he used to visit.

He entered her house at about 10.30pm through the open door of the living room, dragged her through the house, tied her down and beat her with a 12in scimitar. He raped her, then led her to the kitchen where he forced her to hand over money before he left, carrying her computer.

Last year the BKA, the German federal police, created global publicity by linking Brückner to Madeleine’s abduction.

Brückner, a drifter with no steady job, was living in a ramshackle farmhouse just outside Praia da Luz when Madeleine went missing in May 2007.

German police say Brückner’s mobile phone received a call in Praia da Luz at 7.32pm, finishing at 8.02pm, on the day Madeleine vanished from the Ocean Club resort.

Madeleine was last seen at 9.05pm when her father, Gerry, checked her room to find her asleep. He closed the bedroom door and left via the unlocked patio doors.

Wolters said the police were investigating a theory that a hotel employee might have tipped off Brückner about Madeleine’s parents being in a nearby tapas restaurant, leaving their apartment free to burgle.

A German family based in the Algarve who knew Brückner said: “He would get drunk and boast about stealing from the holiday apartments. He would show off about it. ‘I stole this Rolex watch or I got this much money.’ He did it for the excitement as well as the money.”

German investigators have taken the lead on the Madeleine case but are working alongside Scotland Yard’s inquiry, Operation Grange, which has cost £12.5 million since 2011.

Officers at the Yard have applied for £350,000 to help their German counterparts investigate Brückner for another six months.

Wolters said that his investigators had been contacted by more than 1,000 tourists, largely British, since going public with their new suspect, who have provided photographs and videos taken in Praia da Luz in May 2007.

Police hope to spot either Brückner or his vehicles, a VW T3 Westfalia camper van and a 1993 Jaguar XJR6.

“We have not finished going through all that material and that is one reason why the investigation is ongoing,” Wolters said. “We are looking for his vehicles and of course looking for him in those images.”

Wolters said the police also wanted to talk to two Russian-speaking men who knew Brückner during his time on the Algarve. “We don’t believe they have a direct link to the Madeleine case, but we have spoken to witnesses who say that Christian B knew these men. They may not be Russian. But they spoke in the Russian language.”

The German police have had no contact with Madeleine’s parents since last June, Wolters said. Kate and Gerry McCann have previously expressed disappointment at his assertion that their daughter was dead.

The McCanns posted a message on their Official Find Madeleine Campaign on Facebook in January that read: “Understandably, the investigation to find Madeleine has been forced to slow down as a result of the pandemic. It hasn’t stopped however and the hope, energy and determination to find her and uncover the truth remain steadfast.”

A video posted on the page gives interviews with Kate and Gerry insisting that Madeleine should still be considered missing and could be found alive and well.

“We are sure that Madeleine is dead and that Christian B is the murderer of her,” Wolters said. “We think he was alone and we have only one suspect. There are still clues we are investigating. We don’t have any financial constraints like the British. We will carry on with the inquiry until there is nothing left that we can do.”

Thanks for the article, HB.

Myster, on the Justice forum, posted an audio link to Helen Behan's harrowing account of her ordeal.

https://www.independent.ie/entertainmen ... 21788.html

IMO, No one should ever, ever assume that her seemingly matter-of-fact account of events means that it was just an experience of limited consequence... as in an unknown person slapping your bum in a pub (unwanted, in most cases, but relatively easy to subsequently avoid, unless you're being stalked).

IMO, this girl must have gone through years of therapy to be able to even talk about it and to decide that what happened doesn't define who she is, nor limit her chances of having a happy personal and family life.

What threats Christian B. should he be tried and convicted in the Hazel Behan case?

BILD asked the criminal lawyer Matthias Waldraff: "If the suspect is convicted of rape again, he must expect preventive detention."

That would mean that Christian B. would be locked up forever - regardless of whether he can be proven to have murdered [Madeleine] or not.

Later this year.

So a while, yet, before anything tangible emerges.
