I had to check the year when reading that... that potential connection was debunked years ago.

The only potentially interesting snippet, if he actually did say it:

“What I know is that the suspect is not him, it’s another man. He’s also in prison in Germany. He’s also a p.a.e.dophile.”

I somewhat doubt that he has any insider info at all, but none of the T9 are currently in jail in Germany, are they?

Former inspector of the Judiciary Police Gonçalo Amaral says the man suspected of kidnapping Madeleine McCann "looks almost alike" to Gerry McCann, the English girl's father. “At this moment there is talk of a German pedophile who is sentenced to life imprisonment and who has murdered children. What I do know is that this is not the case, ”said the former investigator of the case to the Spanish channel Cuatro.

According to Gonçalo Amaral, who does not disclose where he obtained the information, the suspect is also German and is being detained in that country for crimes of child abuse. In May, PJ announced that it was following information received in the United Kingdom by Scotland Yard and recently sent to Portugal regarding Madeleine McCann's case. This is a complaint made about a foreigner who was in Portugal in May 2007, the date of the disappearance of the English girl from the tourist complex of Praia da Luz, Algarve.


BKA COLLABORATES WITH THE JUDICIARY
Expresso knows that the PJ has verified all the information it receives from abroad as it is the only criminal police body with jurisdiction to investigate the case on national territory. Inspectors have also heard several witnesses.

At the time, the Attorney General's Office confirmed that the Madeleine McCann case is ongoing and "with active lines of investigation." The inquiry is handled by the Portimão section of the Faro Department of Criminal Investigation and Prosecution. One such police is BKA, a federal investigating agency of the German and Austrian governments, which is cooperating with PJ and Scotland Yard in this case.

Also according to the judiciary, this investigation has been developed in articulation with international authorities, "obeying the rules of judicial and police cooperation, which the circumstances of the situation justify."



The English girl was reported missing on the night of May 3, 2007 from an apartment on Praia da Luz where she was on vacation with her parents and two brothers. If she's alive, she's 15 years old today.

Parents were made defendants at the beginning of the case but the lines of inquiry went in other directions. The theories of kidnapping or a failed robbery appear likely among investigators at PJ and Scotland Yard

Why do they feel they have to comment? He is not investigating the disappearance of Madeleine, so why does he have to say what he thinks happened especially as it's so negative.
