The suspect in the Maddie McCann case, Christian B. (43), has withdrawn his application for early release. He is currently serving a prison sentence for drug trafficking in Kiel. The background was that the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) had declared the Braunschweig district court responsible for this issue, the 43-year-old lawyer, Friedrich Fülscher, told dpa on Tuesday.

His client lost confidence in the local judiciary after he was wrongly convicted by the Braunschweig district court of raping a 72-year-old American, the Kiel lawyer said.

According to the Braunschweig judges, the man raped the 72-year-old in 2005 in Praia da Luz, Portugal, about a year and a half before Maddie's disappearance

Wrongly convicted [of the rape of the 72 year old woman].

Ah! I think that refers to the mix-up in paperwork, rather than any suggestion that someone other than him might have been the rapist.

RECAP OF TODAY’S DEVELOPMENTS

German forensic officers are searching a garden plot in the northern city of Hanover.

The dig is part of an investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann in Portugal in 2007.
German authorities said last month they had identified a 43-year-old German citizen as a suspect in the McCann case and are investigating him on suspicion of murder.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s name, but he has been widely identified by German media as Christian B.
He ran a kiosk in Braunschweig and also lived in Hanover for several years, dpa reported.
The allotment is an hour's drive from the town of Braunschweig, the last fixed home of Christian.
Diggers have been brought on to the site, which has had trees cleared to aid the search.
Up to 100 cops have been seen at the plot.
Investigators were busy today, combing through dirt with shovels and rakes.
Prosecutor Julia Meyer said: “I can confirm that the search is in connection with our Madeleine McCann investigation.
“However, I will not comment on the background and aim of this action or the status of the ongoing investigations.”
McCann was three at the time of her disappearance 13 years ago from an apartment while her family vacationed in the seaside town of Praia da Luz in Portugal’s Algarve region.

"It's not him": Maddie witness dismisses Brueckner as suspect

An Irishman who saw a man pass by with a child in his arms guarantees that the figure was not the German pedophile.

One of the key witnesses of Operation Grange, by the English police, who is investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann guarantees that Christian Brueckner, the German pedophile who is the new suspect in the case, is not the man he saw on the night of the girl's disappearance, in Praia da Luz.

Martin Smith and his family were among the people soon questioned by the Portuguese authorities. The Irish businessman assured the authorities that he saw a man passing by on a street next to the Ocean Club with a girl in his lap in his pajamas who appeared to be sleeping. All of this shortly after the time when Maddie disappeared from the room where she slept, in Vila da Luz. The characteristics of this suspect were described by Martin and the resulting robot portrait circulated all over the world, with new breath in 2013.

The man now claims that the suspect he saw was not Christian Brueckner, the new suspect in Maddie's disappearance.

In the testimony he gave to the authorities on the night of May 3, 2007. Martin says he saw a tall, dark man, between 1.70 and 1.80 meters tall, with a child in pink pajamas on his lap , 150 meters from the Ocean Club.

"I was shown the photographs that were released, but all I remember is what is in the testimony to the police. There is nothing I can add to that, it was 13 years ago. But I know I don't recognize this man [Christian Brueckner] . He is not the man I saw ", defends Martin in an interview to the English press.

Martin also explains that, since the new clues and information about the case were revealed, neither the English police nor the German authorities have contacted him.

Maik Niemtschke, who lives in Hanover, told Sky News the search began at around 6:30am local time (5:30am UK time) and up to 100 police officers have been at the scene.

He said the main area of the search is on land where there is a bungalow, which is being used as a second home, and a garden shed.

Mr Niemtschke said the area is located between a road and a river.

He added that another area is being searched around 300 metres from the bungalow.

BRUNSWICK. The 43-year-old suspect in the Madeleine McCann case was a member of the Garden Association in Braunschweig from 2013 to 2016. Is digging going on here too?

Maddie case: Police continue to search allotment garden
HANOVER On the outskirts of Hanover, the police continue excavation work in an allotment garden, which is related to the missing little Maddie. Investigators are excavating more and more earth. What do you hope to find?

dpa

07/29/2020 - 09:53 a.m.

In the case of the missing little Maddie, the police in Hanover continued the excavation work in an allotment garden in the morning. Work on the parcel on the outskirts of the city had been interrupted after sunset last night.

On Wednesday morning, the investigators used an excavator to shovel additional soil on the property, which officials subsequently searched with spades and rakes. The investigators have now set up two tents on the site. In addition to the police from Hanover and Braunschweig, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) is also involved in the campaign.

According to the Braunschweig public prosecutor, the excavations are related to the three-year-old Maddie McCann, who disappeared from a Portuguese holiday resort in 2007, and a 43-year-old German who was imprisoned in Kiel. He is under investigation for murder. He is suspected of kidnapping the child in Portugal in 2007. After the disappearance of the little British woman, he is said to have lived in Hanover. The investigators say as little as what connections there could be between the man and the allotment plot, as well as what they hope to find on the site.

It can be seen that the police have dredged foundations as well as soil. It is to be expected that further digging will take place today. Once again, a police dog was on the premises. TV teams and media photographers from different countries are now crowding around the barrier at the edge of the excavation work. In addition to the British press, TV teams from France, Belgium and the Netherlands were on the spot.

As the tenant of the neighboring neighboring plot of the German Press Agency said, the garden plot was recently unused. There was no longer a garden house on it, blackberry bushes and a cherry tree grew on the site. Before the excavation work started, the police had the tree cut and bushes removed. In the two years in which he used his parcel, he hadn't seen anyone on the neighboring property, the tenant said.

Why have they declared the sky above the garden to be a no-fly zone?

I'm guessing because aircraft engines might interfere with electronic equipment they are using in their search?

“ The operation is accompanied by international media ”, more speculation allowed by the German police, do you really think if they had something they would allow the press to be there?

Probably an excuse to look for other victims of this evil man. There's no real proof, just wild assumptions.
