Leonor: psychological evaluation

Post by Carana » Thu Jul 23, 2015 10:09 am

Not a single witness testified that they had ever seen Leonor even slap Joana. Leandro said he'd never known her to even raise her voice at her. No one describes her as violent in any way. Leandro says she couldn't even face chopping up a chicken, let alone her daughter.

I'd be interested in how Paulo Sargento came to his conclusion that she had a cold personality with psychopathic tendencies.

Leonor Cipriano has psychopathic characteristics
Said in court psychologist Paulo Sargento in the trial of PJ inspectors accused of torture
By: Writing / CLC | November 24, 2008 at 14:33

Psychologist Paul Sergeant admitted Monday in court, in the fifth session of the trial of the alleged aggressions against Leonor Cipriano, the assistant in this process have psychopathic characteristics and propensity for suicide, reports Lusa.

The process of alleged aggressions against Leonor Cipriano by inspectors of the Judicial Police (PJ) is related to the so-called "Joana case", which dates back to September 12, 2004, the day the girl, eight years old, disappeared from the village Figueira, Portimão, Algarve.

According to Paul Sergeant, an expert in forensic psychology and head of the expert report by the Institute of Forensic Medicine on Joana's mother, held after the girl's disappearance, this document indicates that the wizard in this process is a person with characteristics "psychopathic", "coldness affective ',' low socialization traits "with" propensity to lie and enfabular "with" traces of ubiquity "and that" does not respect the well-being of others, "he said.

I always wondered why if they had so much evidence against her they needed to torture a confession out of her, and why that confession contained only things the police had speculated on and nothing that could be proven or only the killer could know such as location of her body.

There was no forensic evidence that is incompatible with what would be found waving a black torch around any household and bear in mind that this "forensic sweep" took place 10 days later (Sept 22) in a home in which 3 adults and the remaining children were still living.

But Amaral had decided she and João had done it and that was that. It's not clear whether she was beaten back in September (she later told Leandro that she had been), or whether she was browbeaten into some kind of offer of confessing to a lesser crime or else they'd charge her with murder. There's only a newspaper report that she'd confessed at that time - there's nothing to confirm it in the files, but she was charged on 24 Sept. I expect that she had "confessed" as a few spots of animal and unidentified human blood are hardly sufficient to lay charges.

I find it plausible that she was beaten back then as well (the black and blue session took place on 14 October) as many of the others were at the time as well apparently, and what I'd forgotten about was that they'd taken her to Faro hospital for severe abdominal pains. Although this was two days after she was charged, it may well be that the pain of being whacked repeatedly in the stomach became unbearable. There was also blood on her chair, but it all got passed off as menstrual issues.

The October beatings were because the judge had told the PJ to find the body.

There is nothing that I can find to indicate that she had psychopthatic tendencies or a cold personality at all, nor that she had ever mistreated her children.

Even if they had killed her and hidden the body, there is nothing to forensically back the alleged massacre. It makes no sense whatsoever. So if it had happened in another way, why confess to such improbable and gruesome acts unless you were forced to?

It's a typical latin police tactic to have their own psychologist declare anyone who they suspect for a crime as aggressive, cold, bitter, depressive, suicidal etc. I have seen it several times, unfortunately, nobody on the defense teams seem to counter that with their own psychologist explaining that it's also a completely natural for an innocent person who are accused of a heinous crime they haven't committed to react & show exactly those types of emotions.
