One of the unavoidable names when it comes to Maddie's disappearance is the former PJ inspector from Portimão Gonçalo Amaral, who is still the target of criticism from the English press and who even had a legal dispute with the child's parents.
On the subject, Carlos Farinha recalled that Gonçalo Amaral left the PJ in 2008 and that “after that many people worked and work in the process”, regretting that the name continues to be related to the investigation.

It must be hell for the McCann's
Problem is, they had to come out and say what they had on CB for their appeal to get any information from witnesses didn't they? How else could they put it out to the public otherwise? I think there are more witnesses out there others he has told, maybe they are scared of his friends or associates. I hope even if its anonymously they find the guts to say what they know.

I really don't know what to make of this German prosecutor. I suspect the explanation of the letter the McCanns never received is that German police or possibly prosecutor intended sending it to the McCanns via Scotland Yard who, themselves, didn't pass it on because they are not convinced of the Germans' conclusion.

Re: German prisoner identified as suspect
about: "regretting that the name continues to be related to the investigation.", amaral regrets that? why does he complain about that, if he from the first moment involved, what he have only done was to try to jeopardize the investigation (which hardly can be called investigation while he was in charge) with the only purpose of becoming a celebrity, he was the only one who through his disgusting behaviour, that caused his own destruction.
being a celebrity comes with a price, so, don´t complain about it.
it is a kind of punishment (although a small one, compared to what he did) for his despicable behaviour.

Brueuckner should be in jail for a long time, irrespective of his involvement/non-involvement of crimes against Madeleine.

secret meeting? I doubt about that, because, if it was secret, how can the press knows about it? more speculation from the press.

Germans and British in Portugal to gather information on suspect in Maddie's abduction

There is no new evidence of Christian Brueckner's involvement in the kidnapping of Madeleine McCann, but Germans and Englishmen are gathering evidence to accuse the German in a case of rape of a young woman and exhibitionism with a child
Rui Gustavo
RUI GUSTAVO
It was at the end of September, at the headquarters of the Judiciary Police, in Lisbon, that a meeting took place between German, English and Portuguese investigators regarding Christian Brueckner, the main suspect in the abduction and murder of Maddie McCann in 2007, while on vacation with the family at Praia da Luz, Algarve. The news from Correio da Manhã was confirmed to Expresso by a police source.
At the meeting there was an "exchange of information" about German. Although all the steps have not resulted in any new evidence of Brueckner's involvement in the case of the abduction of the English child, the German authorities are collecting evidence to try to accuse the suspect of two new cases: the rape of a young Irish woman in 2004, also in the Algarve, and the exhibitionism of which a ten-year-old German child was the victim.
In the first case, although there is no physical evidence of Brueckner's involvement, the victim's testimony and his description of the attack on him is "in many respects" coincident with the case of an American citizen who was raped in Portugal by Brueckner. It is, moreover, this case that keeps him imprisoned in Germany.
In the case of the child, there is no 100% sure identification that it was Brueckner who grabbed the victim's arm while he masturbated, but the German police believe it was the German who actually committed the crime.
Brueckner, who denies any involvement in the Maddie McCann kidnapping case, is in prison in Germany serving a seven-year sentence for rape of a 72-year-old woman in Portugal.
In 2007, when Madeleine disappeared from the apartment where she slept with the two brothers, Brueckner was in the vicinity of Praia da Luz. He had been released from jail, where he served nine months in prison for fuel theft. Later, in Germany, he would have boasted of being the author of the abduction of the German child. The bravado put the police in pursuit.

Brueckner is currently serving a seven-year sentence for raping a 72-year-old woman, a crime that occurred in Portugal

In September, a secret meeting at the Judiciary Police headquarters in Lisbon brought together German, English and Portuguese investigators to exchange information about Christian Brueckner, who is considered the main suspect in the disappearance of Maddie McCann in 2007. The news is advanced by Correio da Manhã and confirmed by Expresso.
The meeting did not result in any new evidence of Brueckner's involvement in the media case surrounding Maddie, however, it did allow the German authorities to gather elements relating to two other cases, which could keep the suspect in prison for several years - Brueckner currently serves time seven years for raping a 72-year-old woman, a crime that occurred in Portugal.

These two new cases have to do with the rape of a young Irish woman in 2004 in the Algarve and the exhibitionism that a 10-year-old German child was a victim of (German authorities believe that Brueckner grabbed the child's arm while masturbating).
The meeting was also based on the objective of drawing a profile of the German, in order to understand how he got rid of Maddie's body.

English and German authorities searching for Maddie's body. Brueckner is the prime suspect
The authorities do not give up on the investigation and the German police believe that Christian Brueckner is to blame for the disappearance. It remains to be seen how he disposed of the English girl's body.
English and German authorities searching for Maddie's body. Brueckner is the prime suspect
The Lisbon Judicial Police (PJ) recently received the German and English police to try to find clues leading to the whereabouts of Madeleine McCann, the English girl who disappeared 13 years ago from the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz, Algarve. The main suspect in the disappearance of the British child is the German Christian Brueckner, who is imprisoned in Germany, serving a seven-year sentence for rape of an American woman.
The meeting between the European authorities was intended to outline a profile of Brueckner in order to understand how he got rid of the body, advances the " Correio da Manhã ". This is because the German authorities are convinced that it was Christian Brueckner who killed Madeleine, they just do not know where the body of the child, who was 3 years old at the time of the abduction, was hidden.
It is also known that, during the meeting, the PJ presented all the diligences it has gathered so far, such as the indication of the wells and holes in the Algarve where they looked for evidence of Maddie's body. However, the clues against the German man remain unclear, since even the DNA profiles collected in the Ocean Club apartment do not place the suspect at the scene of the crime. In addition, the July 28 searches for a secret basement in the house where the German lived between 2013 and 2016, in Germany, proved unsuccessful and nothing suspicious or a crime indicator was found.

On the other hand, several witnesses confirm that Brueckner knew the Ocean Club well and knew the routines of Maddie's parents.

I am currently of the opinion on the available information and statistical datasets that if death has occurred, that it is possible that Madeleine McCann’s body has been disposed into the sea at Praia da Luz. (See my second report entitled “NPIA OP TASK Search Doc Beach and Marine”).
Concluding sentence of Mark Harrison's final report.
If he is right, Madeleine's body will not be found.
